UK HealthCare Launches GetWell Loop for COVID-19 Patients

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 9, 2020) — UK HealthCare is committed to supporting its community. GetWell Loop is a new addition to the several virtual forms of care UK HealthCare is offering.

GetWell Loop is a digital care software that allows providers to engage with patients across different episodes of care. UK HealthCare is offering this service for patients who have been tested for COVID-19. It will serve as another solution to patients who are unable to see providers in person.

Through virtual check-ins, a team of UK HealthCare nurses will be monitoring the information patients put in their profiles, and from there, determining the next course of treatment.

Specifically, providers have several methods of care through GetWell Loop. They are able to monitor patients’ conditions through a daily survey, which providers can follow up with patients if necessary. It also allows providers to give resources patients need to monitor their own health, and it can push out important information about COVID-19.

“Adhering to Governor Beshear’s ‘Healthy at Home’ initiative, UK HealthCare is monitoring your symptoms from home, where you feel safest,” said Kristen Brown, director of ambulatory clinical operations for UK HealthCare.

A main goal of GetWell Loop is to reduce the anxiety of patients that have been tested for COVID-19. "UK HealthCare wants to put patients at ease, so we can all work together to flatten the curve," Brown said.

We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
