The Tour de Cure is a national event sponsored by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and spanned 43 states nationwide. The Tour is a ride, not a race, with routes designed for everyone from the occasional rider to the experienced cyclist.

The UK HealthCare bike team was the third largest corporate team, raising $1,886. All teams raised a total of $65,749, to support the mission of the ADA, to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

UK HealthCare team members were: Dr. Dennis Karounos, associate professor in the Division of Endocrinology and Molecular Medicine at the UK College of Medicine, Kevin Anderson, radiologist technologist, Imaging Services for UK HealthCare, Jessica Brock, Division of Endocrinology and Molecular Medicine, Barnstable Brown Kentucky Diabetes and Obesity Center, Nicholas Hatch, UK Graduate Center for Nutritional Sciences, Christopher Karounos, UK sophomore in Biology,  Kelly Putnam, UK Graduate Center for Nutritional Sciences, Estill Robinson, Department of Radiology, UK College of Medicine, Joel Thompson, Division of Endocrinology and Molecular Medicine, UK Graduate Center for Nutritional Sciences, Michael Karounos, UK Graduate Center for Nutritional Sciences, and community members Fran Bevins and Chrisi Karounos.
