Vaccines for Flu & Hepatitis B Available at UHS
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 15, 2010) - University Health Services will offer two clinics for students, faculty and staff to obtain influenza vaccines. On Monday, October 18, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., and Friday, October 22, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., flu shots will be available in the first floor lobby of the UHS building.
Flu shots will cost $10 for UK undergraduate and graduate students (must present student identification card), and $20 for faculty and staff. Flu shot payment is due at the time of service, and may be paid via cash or check.
The 2010 flu shot includes protection from the H1N1 influenza strain (also known as the "Swine Flu"), which is expected to make a comeback this season. Unlike last year, a separate H1N1 vaccine will not be necessary.
The adult dose of the hepatits B vaccine is also available. Students should call 323-APPT (2778). Employees may receive the hepatitis B vaccine on a first-come, first-served, walk-in basis.
Questions regarding flu shots, hepatitis B vaccination, or other vaccines available through UHS should be directed to Jitana Benton-Lee, UHS patient care facilitator, at (859) 218-3234.
