Win tickets to Taylor Swift in Miami, raffle to benefit Markey ovarian cancer research

Win a trip to Miami: Taylor Swift The Eras Tour
The Bluegrass Hospitality Group is giving away the ultimate Taylor Swift concert experience in Miami. Contest proceeds will benefit Markey’s Ovarian Cancer Screening Program.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 3, 2024) — The Bluegrass Hospitality Group (BHG) has partnered with the Capital Ovarian Cancer Organization to give away the ultimate Taylor Swift concert experience, with a trip for two to see the Eras Tour in Miami, Florida. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center’s Ovarian Screening Program.

“Ovarian cancer awareness is important to me because my sister Megan was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and unfortunately passed away after a five-month battle,” said Brian McCarty, BHG co-founder. “If you knew Megan, she had the biggest smile and an infectious laugh; and we miss her very much. It’s an honor for our restaurants to raise awareness and funds for the ovarian cancer screening program.”

The winner will receive two tickets to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour on Oct. 18 or 19 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, roundtrip domestic airfare for two, a two-night hotel stay and $500 in spending money.

The raffle is open Sept. 1-30, and the winner will be drawn at 3 p.m., Oct. 2 at Malone’s Prime Events & Receptions, 3373 Tates Creek Rd. in Lexington. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $100 at https://event.gives/2024taylorswiftraffle/items/389586818.

Ovarian cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths among women; however, when caught early, it is a treatable and curable disease. The Markey Cancer Center Ovarian Screening Program provides free annual sonographic screenings to women across Kentucky, with the goal of detecting ovarian cancer in its earliest stages, when treatment is most successful.

The program is a research study launched in 1987 by internationally renowned Markey gynecologic oncologist John van Nagell, M.D., and the UK College of Medicine. Since then, more than 50,000 women have received screening, totaling more than 375,000 free transvaginal sonography screens — more than 1,200 per month. Published results report fewer deaths from ovarian cancer for women enrolled in the program.

"We are excited about the opportunity to partner with BHG and UK on this raffle experience because we know this will increase awareness of ovarian cancer, our primary mission. The Capital Ovarian Cancer Organization was founded after my sister, Debi, died from ovarian cancer," said C.O.C.O. executive director, Beverly VanHouten. "The money raised from this raffle will provide a significant contribution to the Markey Cancer Center. We hope people get as excited as we are and purchase tickets to support this very important cause."
