LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 21, 2017) The University of Kentucky's School of Art and Visual Studies in partnership with 21c Museum Hotel and the Lexington Film League (sponsored by LexArts) will present Deke Weaver's performance of "Bear and the Unreliable Bestiary" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at 21c's second floor gallery. The event is free and open to the public.

"Bear" is the fourth piece from the "Unreliable Bestiary" series which contains performances, a website and a set of books about our current precarious moment in natural history. The series is an "ark" of stories about animals, our relationships with them and the worlds they inhabit. The project presents each letter of the alphabet representing an endangered animal or habitat. This presentation will incorporate live performances, hybridized documentation, lecture demonstration and video clips.

Weaver is a writer, performer, director and media artist. His performances and videos have been presented through various outlets, including the Sundance Film Festival, PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) and the Berlin Video Festival. He has achieved much success in his field and is currently an associate professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
