LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 15, 2017) University of Kentucky Opera Theatre will conclude its 25th anniversary of "It’s a Grand Night for Singing!" this weekend. Only three more performances remain June 16-18, at the Singletary Center for the Arts.

"It's a Grand Night for Singing!" is a highly anticipated summer musical revue in Lexington, with UK vocalists showing off their talents alongside regional performers. The event features popular Broadway tunes as well as Top 40 hits to entertain guests of all ages. This year’s production includes many crowd favorites from such long-standing shows as “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “The Music Man,” “42nd Street,” “Hairspray,” “West Side Story” and “Les Misérables,” as well as newer favorites from the Tony Award-winning “Hamilton,” “Fun Home” and “Matilda.” The Grand Night Orchestra provides accompaniment for the production under the direction of Robert Baldwin, music director for the Salt Lake City Orchestra.

Joining the cast for the last three performances will be world-renowned Irish tenor Ronan Tynan. A notable member of The Irish Tenors, he is serving as an artist-in-residence at the UK School of Music, where he mentors students who have received scholarships through Alltech’s Vocal Scholarship Competition.

The last three performances will begin 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 16 and 17, and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 18.

"Grand Night" tickets are $45 for general admission, $40 for seniors and UK faculty, $38 for groups larger than 25, $25 for UK staff, and $13 for students with a valid student ID. Tickets for "Grand Night" are available through the Singletary Center ticker office, by phone at 859-257-4929, online at www.scfatickets.com, or in person at the venue. In addition, each performance will also have select seats available to UK staff for only $25. The special staff price is presented in memory of Russ Williams, the university's first representative of the staff on UK's Board of Trustees who died in 2009. Staff tickets must be purchased in person at Singletary Center with a valid staff ID.
