of

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 10, 2009) − Alltech and University of Kentucky Opera Theatre invite the Bluegrass to "An Old Fashioned Celebration of Christmas Carols" at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, in the atrium of Victorian Square, located at the corner of Main St. and Broadway in downtown Lexington. This popular concert of holiday music is free and open to the public.

"An Old Fashioned Celebration of Christmas Carols" is a special concert conducted by Everett McCorvey and featuring the talents of the award-winning vocalists of UK Opera Theatre and the Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition, the Victorian Square Orchestra, the Lexington Singers Children’s Choir, the Alluring Handbell Ensemble and celebrated tenor and UK alumnus Gregory Turay.

This family event includes performances of Handel’s Messiah and a community sing-along of holiday favorites like "Joy to the World," "Jingle Bells" and "Frosty the Snowman."

The annual concert is made possible through a partnership between Alltech and UK Opera Theatre.

"Alltech is a fantastic community partner, giving back in significant ways to the community that it serves. We are excited to partner with them and Victorian Square again on this wondrous event," said McCorvey, director of UK Opera Theatre.

Alltech is also a sponsor of the annual Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition. The next competition, presented by UK Opera Theatre, will be held March 14, 2010.
