LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 8, 2025) — Applications for the 2025-26 Provost Faculty Fellow Program are now open for faculty of any rank and title series.

The program was introduced in 2023 as an additional opportunity to engage faculty in the university’s overall strategic mission and priorities. Faculty across UK can leverage their expertise and experience while also benefiting from leadership professional development.

The Faculty Fellow reports directly to a member of the Office of the Provost and works closely with campus partners, including faculty members, colleges, centers, advisory boards and other stakeholders, depending on the aim of the specific project or initiative. These projects and initiatives can involve topics like academic affairs, faculty affairs, student success and institutional effectiveness.

For the duration of the fellowship, the selected Faculty Fellow will regularly meet with the Office of the Provost member to whom they report — mentorship is a key component of the program, with the Faculty Fellow expected to collaborate with other members of the campus community as well. The scope of the project or initiative determines the length of the fellowship.

Academic year 2025-26

The Faculty Fellow will focus on working with the office to develop recommendations for UK Core to help ensure UK Core meets student learning outcomes, program outcomes and other institutional goals; develop and present reports to colleges, faculty and external regulatory and accrediting bodies; and collaborate closely with other units for support, including the Office of the University Registrar, the Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness and others to support the UK Core mission.

The fellowship is anticipated to last one academic year, a nine-month assignment. The Office of the Provost will cover 10% of the salary for a 10% appointment to administration during the fellowship.

Eligibility and application

Faculty of any rank and title series are encouraged to apply, and those with experience in UK Core assessment, developing or teaching UK Core courses or serving as UK Core area reviewers will be considered.

A complete application consists of:

  • A letter of interest detailing expertise relevant to the specified project;
  • A CV; and
  • A brief letter of support from the applicant’s college dean supporting the 10% release to administrative duties.

Applications must be submitted here by 5 p.m. Friday, April 18. Send questions to Brandi Frisby, associate provost for academic affairs, at brandi.frisby@uky.edu

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
