Boone Center Summer Events Offer Great Food and Fun

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 22, 2011) — The University of Kentucky's Hilary J. Boone Center has an exciting lineup of summer events scheduled for members in July and August. In addition to member events, the Boone Center's annual Ale Tasting Aug. 26 is open to prospective members as well.
The Boone Center will present a Bourbon and Barbecue event from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, July 29. The bourbon-inspired buffet will include barbecue ribs, grilled chicken and the Boone Center's famous corn pudding. A bourbon tasting from local distillers will highlight the event. The cost is $32 per person.
Sunday Brunch is another popular event among Boone Center members. The next brunch will be offered from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14. The cost of the brunch is $15 per person.
Finally, the Third Annual Ale Tasting will take place 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 and is open to all UK faculty, staff, alumni and associate alumni. A Boone Center favorite, this event has drawn big crowds in past years. This year the event has been moved from its previous Thursday night schedule to a move convenient Friday night time, so participants can still enjoy downtown Lexington's Thursday Night Live events.
Associate alumni are those who join the UK Alumni Association as associate members, which makes them eligible to join both The Club at Spindletop Hall and the Boone Center. It's a great way for those who did not attend UK to support the university and Alumni Association, and to become eligible for membership in both clubs.
Boone Center General Manager Gerald Marvel said the new summer offerings are meant to expand on the popularity of the annual ale tasting event. "We're in the process of expanding our offerings to restore some afternoon gathering opportunities and put some more club member events on the annual calendar," Marvel said. "The Boone Center is very convenient, and we pride ourselves on outstanding service here."
The Hilary J. Boone Center at the University of Kentucky is one of Lexington's premiere meeting and dining facilities for UK alumni, faculty and staff. The Boone Center is located at 510 Rose Street in the heart of campus. The Center's elegant décor is ideal for meetings, banquets, cocktail parties, wedding receptions and other special events. The Boone Center is open for lunch 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday for members and their guests, one Sunday each month for Sunday Brunch, and for special member events throughout the year.
