Bring the Balloon Fight Record Back to UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 27, 2010) It’s going to take more than 4,000 people and 125,000 water balloons but tonight students at the University of Kentucky and Lexington residents attempt to regain the Guinness World Record for the largest water balloon fight ever.

The water balloon fight will take place at 11:55 p.m., Friday, Aug. 27, on the Johnson Center Fields on UK's campus and has been organized by Christian Student Fellowship (CSF), a student organization at UK. The fight is the culminating event of K Week, UK's welcome week for new students, but CSF hopes more than just new students will attend.

“This event will be a fun and unique way for the students at UK to start the school year, but we also encourage people from the Lexington area to be involved,” says Gina Young, an associate staff member at CSF. “We want the water balloon fight to be something that everyone can enjoy. This is an amazing opportunity for both the students and the community to participate in something that will connect everyone in a fun and exciting way.”

The entire Lexington community, including all UK students, is invited to participate in the event. Please note that everyone in attendance will get wet. To volunteer to be a judge, help with the event or learn more about CSF, contact contact@ukcsf.org.
