Commencement 2.0

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 4, 2010) For the first time in the University of Kentucky’s storied history, the university will broadcast its main commencement ceremony live over the Internet at www.uky.edu/Commencement on May 8. UK will be rolling out the blue carpet with live backstage access with graduates beginning at 1:45 p.m. and the official ceremony beginning at 2 p.m. (Mac users will need to install a plugin by clicking here.)

“Commencement is such a special time to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our students,” said UK President Lee T. Todd, Jr. “We are excited that technology will allow family and friends of our graduates to share in this celebration from locations across the Commonwealth, the nation, and the world.”

The webcast will be archived on www.uky.edu/uknow and available for viewing by Tuesday, May 11.

Twitter.com will also be used during the ceremonies through the use of the hash tag #UKGrad to promote the graduation festivities. Follow the University's official Twitter account @UniversityofKy for updates regarding Commencement.
