Downtown Parking, Traffic and Entry Update for UK Commencement

Over 1,000 graduates are expected to participate in the December 2018 Commencement ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 14.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 11, 2018) — Due to construction downtown near Rupp Arena and Lexington Center, parking and traffic for the University of Kentucky's Commencement ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 14, may be impacted more than usual. The UK Commencement Committee encourages graduates and their families to allow plenty of extra time in case of heavy traffic and arrive at Rupp Arena at least one hour prior to the start of their ceremony.

Attendees may enter the parking lot directly off High Street, and should follow entry routes and parking attendant instructions toward the designated parking areas. There is no charge for parking in any of the Lexington Center lots. View a parking map at www.uky.edu/commencement/sites/www.uky.edu.commencement/files/pictures/pdf/general_parking.pdf.

Specific entry guidelines for the ceremonies are listed below:

  • Degree candidates and working staff should enter to the right (when facing Rupp Arena from High Street) and proceed down escalators to Level 1 and Heritage Hall through metal detectors for check-in.
  • Families and guests must enter to the left (when facing Rupp Arena from High Street) and proceed through metal detectors and directly into Rupp Arena.

Ceremonies will begin 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14.
