Facing Change Week April 2-6 Offers Speakers, Activities Revolving Around Diversity, Social Justice
LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 30, 2018) — The University of Kentucky's first Facing Change Week — a week of events designed to engage the campus community in the areas of diversity, belonging and social justice — is scheduled April 2-6.
The week of activities is made possible by an Office for Institutional Diversity Inclusive Excellence Grant and is being organized by UK's Bias Incident Support Services in collaboration with several university offices, departments and student organizations.
"With the theme, 'Starting Somewhere,' Facing Change Week will comprise events and activities, such as workshops, intercultural conversations, guest speakers and community art projects aimed at inviting members of our community, regardless of their prior awareness of diversity issues or involvement in social justice, to connect with and participate in UK’s pillar of 'belonging and engagement' and our commitment to inclusive excellence," said Jamari White, social justice educator in UK's Bias Incident Support Services.
Multiple events are planned for each day to appeal to a variety of interests. Visit the Facing Change Week website for a full schedule of events.
