Gatton College to Host Panel Discussion on Economics of Environmental Policy

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 26, 2017) — The John H. Schnatter Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise and the BB&T Program for the Study of Capitalism, units housed within the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics, will host a panel discussion on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) use of benefits-cost analysis as part of their process of designing environmental policies and regulations. The event will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, in Woodward Hall (room 307) of the Gatton College building.

The panelists include special guest Ilya Shapiro, Cato Institute Senior Fellow in Constitutional Studies and Editor-in-Chief of the Cato Supreme Court Review. He will be joined by Gatton College Endowed Professors of Economics William Hoyt and Frank Scott, and the Senator Wendell H. Ford Professor of Law Michael Healy.

Each panelist will present their insights, followed by discussion among the panelists and Q & A from the audience. An economics or business background is not required.
