Parking Garage Maintenance Begins June 3

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 3, 2013) ― Beginning today, Monday, June 3, routine preventive maintenance work will begin on all eight campus parking garages. The garages will remain open and operational during this maintenance, but the work will require blocking of a varying number of parking spaces in areas of structures throughout the project.

The maintenance will begin with Parking Structure #1 (located at the corner of Cooper and University Drives) and Parking Structure #2 (located on Rose Street, with the entrance on Hilltop Avenue), and continue until all structures are completed. Signs will be posted at entrances to the structures to remind motorists about the work taking place within that particular garage.

Parking and Transportation Services will be working closely with the contractor to ensure that any maintenance work that will impact significant numbers of parking spaces is completed during the summer months. Any remaining maintenance work occurring after the start of the fall semester will have minimal impact to parking availability.

Although this maintenance should have minimal impact on parking or travel, anyone using these structures should be prepared for isolated delays and temporary traffic and parking changes within the garages.
