Semester Break Parking and Transit Changes

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 16, 2016) During the break between the fall and spring semesters, demand for student parking is greatly reduced. As a result, Parking and Transportation Services does not control many of the student areas for permits during this period.

In general, all residential (R) lots, with the exception of R6, R16, R17 and R18 lots, are off control beginning Saturday, Dec. 17. All employee (E) lots will remain on control, including the joint use employee/commuter lots.

The R5, R8, R10, R11, R12 and R14 lots will go on control Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017. The R7 areas will go on control Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017. The C8 lot and off-peak and K areas will go on control on the first day of classes, Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017.

The Yellow Night Route will conclude fall semester service on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016.; this route will resume on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017. Kentucky Wildcab service has ended for fall semester, and will resume on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017. The On-Demand Night Bus will conclude fall semester service on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, and will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017. Sunday On-Demand Service ended on Dec. 11, 2016, and will resume on Jan. 8, 2017.

For the 2016-17 semester break, the Blue, White and Green Routes will operate on their modified break schedule of 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m., Dec. 19-23, 2016, and Jan. 3-6, 2017. These routes will not be in operation Dec. 26-30 or on Jan. 2. These routes will return to their regular semester hours of operation on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017.

The Orange Route (UK HealthCare Shuttle) will not operate on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, or Monday, Jan. 2, 2017. To support continual operations at the UK Hospital, the route will run 6 a.m. until midnight Dec. 27-30, but with only two buses on the route. The route will return to regular service on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017.

The Pink Route (Kentucky Clinic Shuttle) will not operate on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, or Monday, Jan. 2, 2017; however, it will run a regular schedule Dec. 27-30. The route will resume regular service on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017.

UK HealthCare’s shuttle between UK HealthCare Good Samaritan Hospital and UK Chandler Hospital will not operate on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, or Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, but will otherwise have a normal schedule.
