Semester Break Parking and Transit Changes

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 15, 2017) — During the break between the fall and spring semesters, demand for parking is greatly reduced. As a result, University of Kentucky Transportation Services does not control many of the various campus parking areas for permits during portions of the break.

In general, employee lots remain on control for permits during the duration of the semester break, except for the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day (Dec. 25-Jan. 1). The Kroger Field student periphery lots (Blue, Red, Greg Page Overflow and Soccer/Softball), as well as most student residential lots will not be controlled for permits during the break, with the exception of the Seminary area residential lots (R29 and R30), the Wildcat Coal Lodge lot (R17) and the German House area (R18). For the 2017-18 semester break, the campus Blue, White and Green Routes will operate on their modified break schedule of 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, Dec. 18-22. These routes will not be in operation Dec. 25-29 or on Jan. 1. The Blue, White and Green Routes will also operate on their break schedule Jan. 2-5. The Blue, White and Green Routes will return to their regular semester service levels on Jan. 8.

The On-Demand Night Bus will not operate Dec. 16-Jan. 6. Service will resume Jan. 7.

The Orange Route (UK HealthCare Shuttle) will not operate on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1. To support continual operations at UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital, the route will run 6 a.m. until midnight, Dec. 26-29, but with only two buses on the route. The route will return to regular service on Jan. 2.

The Pink Route (Kentucky Clinic Shuttle) will not operate on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1; however, it will run a regular schedule on Dec. 26-29. The route will resume regular service on Jan. 2.

The last day of Kentucky Wildcab for the fall semester was Saturday, Dec. 9. Kentucky Wildcab will resume on Jan. 11, 2018.

UK HealthCare’s shuttle between UK HealthCare Good Samaritan Hospital and UK Chandler Hospital will not operate on Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, or Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, but will otherwise have a normal schedule.
