South Upper Street to Close Temporarily on UK Campus June 17, 18

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 15, 2017) — Due to the reconstruction of the Central Heating Plant at the University of Kentucky's Peterson Service Building, contractors have received approval permits to close a portion of South Upper Street during daytime hours this weekend.

The closure will be at Bolivar Street and detour southbound South Upper Street traffic onto Bolivar Street. The closure times are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 17 and 18. 

Anyone normally using this portion of South Upper during this time should use the detour provided and allow extra time for travel. Signage will be posted to clearly mark the detour.

The Central Heating Plant is receiving two new boilers to be moved from their current storage location in downtown Lexington to the project site. Each boiler is an oversized load and requires a crane to be moved into the building.
