LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 24, 2023)  Summer parking permits will go on sale for students beginning Monday, May 1. The permits cost $10.50 per week and can be purchased for any number of weeks.

Summer permits are not available online, but may be purchased at University of Kentucky Trasportation Services customer service center, located at 721 Press Ave., from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. They are also available for sale by phone at 859-257-5757.

As a reminder, a valid UK parking permit is required when parking on campus during the summer. Summer parking enforcement begins Monday, May 8, and continues through Friday, Aug. 11.

Parking is generally more plentiful on campus in the summer, with additional options available for any valid UK permit. Summer permits authorize students to park in most student lots, as well as Cornerstone Garage (PS #5), the Scott Street area lots, and the Sports Center area lots. See the summer parking map for more details.

Unlike previous years, however, certain floors of Rose Street Garage (PS #2) and Sports Center Garage (PS #7) will not be open to any valid UK permit. Instead, these structures will be restricted to their specific permit types: E2 and R2 for Rose Street Garage, and E7, C7, EC7, and R7 for Sports Center Garage.

Employee lots also remain restricted to designated employee permits throughout the summer months.

Most lots are controlled for valid permits from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. However, many employee intermediate lots revert to any valid permit after 3:30 p.m. weekdays.

Like Rose Street Garage and Sports Center Garage, some surface lots also remain on control for specific permit types 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These include employee reserved lots, the Nutter Center Lot, Memorial Coliseum residential areas (R17 and R18), Complex Drive (R7), the Football Training Center Core Lot, the South Mill Lot (C40), and Seminary area residential lots (R29 and R30).

Metered or paid visitor lots also remain on control over the summer and require payment. Summer parking permits do not authorize users to park at meters or in pay lots without paying the meter.

Please note that even when lots are not controlled for permits, they are still monitored for other parking violations including, but not limited to, parking in fire lanes, parking on yellow lines, and unauthorized parking in ADA-accessible areas.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
