LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 3, 2024) — During its December meeting, the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees approved 2025-26 housing and dining rates. This includes a 4.65% rate increase for undergraduate housing, as well as University Flats graduate housing, constructed and managed by UK partner Greystar. Rates for university-constructed undergraduate housing will increase by 2%. A 3.4% increase in dining rates was also announced.

“We have worked hard to keep these increases as low as possible, particularly for our housing rates — ensuring they remain below local rent increases — while still addressing rising operating costs,” said Eric N. Monday, UK executive vice president for finance and administration.

The year-over-year rent increase for Lexington is currently 5.4%, according to ApartmentList.com.

  • Rates for undergraduate residence halls and University Flats graduate housing managed and maintained by UK partner Greystar will increase by 4.65%.
  • University-constructed undergraduate housing rates will increase by 2%.
  • In addition, university-constructed graduate and apartment housing will have a 2% increase, except for Greg Page Apartments and Shawneetown which will increase 1%.
  • Dining rates will increase 3.4%. Dining rates and plans are based on an agreement with Aramark, the university’s dining partner, and will continue to offer four dining plans — one minimum plan and three optional plans — to students living on campus during the 2024-25 academic year.
  • Dining plans range from providing 10 meals per week to unlimited meals per week. Each dining plan also includes “Flex Dollars.”
  • “Flex Dollars” can be used to purchase a la carte items at any of the 23 dining locations across campus and may be carried over from the fall to spring semester.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
