LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 12, 2026) — National 4-H Week began Oct. 4, highlighting the young people whose lives are being shaped through hands-on learning, leadership, service and career readiness. To celebrate, several buildings across the University of Kentucky campus were lit green, showing support for 4-H’s mission and the Extension agents, volunteers and 4-H members who help young people become beyond ready.

Throughout the week, 4-H and partner organizations have showcased their support for Kentucky youth. 4-H members are encouraged to try something new, share innovative ideas and tell their unique 4-H stories.

4-H helps young people become beyond ready for work, life and what comes next. National 4-H Week celebrates that mission and the people across Kentucky who make it possible.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and healthcare. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $1.02 billion research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
