UK to Host Discussion on 2011 Breeders' Cup

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 17, 2011) — The Breeders' Cup and the University of Kentucky's Horse Racing Club, part of the UK Equine Initiative, will host an all-star panel discussion about what it's like to plan and participate in horse racing's most prestigious global event.  The discussion is set to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the UK College of Agriculture's Seay Auditorium, located near the corner of South Limestone and Cooper Drive.

Pat Day, Kentucky Derby and 12-time Breeders' Cup-winning jockey; Carl Nafzger, Kentucky Derby and Breeders' Cup-winning trainer; and, Breeders' Cup President & CEO Craig Fravel will take part in the program which will be moderated by Mike Penna of the Horse Racing Radio Network.

The program is open to the general public and admission is free.  Complimentary parking will be available in the lot off of Cooper Drive, behind the Garrigus Building (Ag Science Center South).

The 2011 Breeders' Cup will be hosted over two days by historic Churchill Downs in Louisville, Friday, Nov. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 5. The Breeders' Cup will give two tickets for Championship Friday's races to each of the first 150 students who attend Tuesday's panel discussion.

The UK Equine Initiative is a framework that encompasses everything equine in the College of Agriculture.  It includes more than 50 faculty and staff with an equine focus across eight different departments.
