UK Women’s Forum Launches 21-22 Professional Development Programs

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 9, 2021) - The University of Kentucky Women’s Forum kicks off another year of professional development activities and programs in September that are open to the campus community. This month, the Women’s Forum is hosting two events that are designed to promote wellness and initiate conversations among attendees.

On Sept. 10th, from noon – 1 p.m., Jakob Hester will present, “How HR Supports Employee Work-Life & Well-Being". Jakob is a Wellness Specialist with University of Kentucky Human Resources Health & Wellness. In this presentation, Jakob will cover work-life and well-being benefits and resources available to UK employees, including support for mental health, personal resilience, nutrition, physical activity, flexible work, caregiving, and personal finance. The hybrid program will occur in-person in Room 299 Gatton College of Business & Economics and on Zoom. Lunch is provided for in-person attendees. There is no cost to attend, but all attendees must register here.

The UK Women’s Forum’s first Coffee & Connect event for the 21-22 academic year is on Sept. 24, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. We will have a virtual conversation over coffee from the comfort of our desks (wherever they might be!). Coffee & Connect began last fall as a way to connect with one another in a safe space for meaningful conversation. This hour of thoughtful discussion typically follows the theme of our monthly professional development, and we invite guest speakers to enhance the conversation. Register for this virtual event here.   Please visit the UK Women’s Forum website for more details about this event and future signature events, including monthly professional development sessions, and the annual conference.

If you have questions about these events or if you want to join the UK Women’s Forum listserv, please email: UKWF@uky.edu.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
