UPDATE: Woodland Avenue Closed to Through Traffic to Avoid Street Collapse

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 30, 2013) — Woodland Avenue is closed from Hilltop to Columbia to avoid a collapse of the street into a trench at the construction site there. This is a precautionary measure. Crews are working to correct the issue and stabilize the street with the goal to have it open to traffic by Thursday afternoon, Oct. 31, weather permitting.

In the meantime, Woodland is closed to all through traffic including vehicle, bicycle, moped and pedestrian traffic. University of Kentucky Police urges everyone to avoid the area. UK employees exiting Parking Structure #2 are advised to use University Drive. Traffic control is on the scene.

The R-4 and R-10 parking lots and the W.T. Young pay parking lot, all in the vicinity of the road closure, are open. Delays are expected in the area. Please use caution.
