Updates on sexual assault case

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 5, 2025) — After receiving a report on Feb. 22 of a sexual assault, the University of Kentucky Police Department immediately began an investigation, released a crime bulletin to the campus community and issued warrants for the arrest of Angus Thompson and Addison Adkins. Shortly after, both suspects were suspended from the university and banned from campus, pending a Title IX investigation. The two suspects turned themselves in to the Lexington Police Department on March 3.

UK's Office for Student Success has reached out to offer support to the victim.

Adkins is no longer a student and Thompson remains suspended. Additionally, neither individual is allowed on campus, per a court order. While UK Police's investigation continues, and criminal proceedings are underway, this case involving both suspects will also be adjudicated by UK's Office for Equal Opportunity and Office of Student Conduct.

We want to make it unmistakably clear: this behavior is unacceptable and has no place on our campus. It does not reflect the values we hold as a community and falls far below the standards of conduct we set for our students.

Above all else, the safety of our students is our top priority. UK Police does everything in its authority to hold perpetrators accountable and bring justice to survivors. We also know that reports of such heinous acts of sexual violence impact our entire community.

Support resources are available on campus. Students can find more information at go.uky.edu/gethelp.
