LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 4, 2017) — Keeping thousands of students, faculty and staff safe is a responsibility University of Kentucky Chief of Police Joe Monroe takes very seriously.
Since being named chief in 2009, Monroe has helped to transform the UK Police Department with innovative ideas to build community and recent investments in technology to help upgrade campus safety.
But with so much time spent on campus, how does the chief unwind? What have students taught him and what mark does he hope to leave on campus? The UKNow team recently sat down with Monroe to record a "Behind the Blue" podcast and video interview.
Watch the video above to learn more about Joe Monroe, the person. This video is the latest in our monthly UKNow series, “5 Questions with …” The goal is to learn more about the people leading, teaching, healing, discovering and learning at the University of Kentucky.
