Weather and Plans for This Weekend

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 10, 2022) — University of Kentucky Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration Eric Monday sent the message below to the campus community today.

Campus Community,

Inclement weather is predicted in the Lexington area this weekend, even as our campus will host several important activities. We want you to know about the steps we’re taking to help ensure the health and safety of our community and our visitors.

Many prospective students — and many families — will be on campus Saturday for our second Merit Weekend. Some of them will be arriving Friday for preliminary events.

We plan to continue those important events and have communicated that with prospective students, families and employees who are supporting our work this weekend.

Our workers in facilities and public safety will be prioritizing areas most impacted by these events and activities — roads and sidewalks around the Gatton Student Center and White Hall Classroom Building, for example.

Many UK employees – dining, housing, faculty, advisors and other staff – already are working to prepare a wonderful experience for these prospective students and their loved ones.

We ask employees supporting those events to continue plans to report to work as scheduled, but we ask them to stay in touch with their supervisors as we are continually monitoring conditions.

If there are changes in schedules or events — or if facilities and other operations are impacted in any way — we will update the UK home page and our alerts page at uky.edu/alerts. We also will communicate any changes on UK’s social media platforms and through the media.

The schedule for this weekend also can be found at: https://orientation.uky.edu/merit-weekend-2022.

We look forward to seeing our newest Wildcats this weekend and to maintaining campus operations in as safe a manner as possible. Thank you for all you do for UK and our students.
