LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 14, 2018) The University of Kentucky Visitor Center has a new home. It recently moved from the Main Building to the new Gatton Student Center. The new location will give prospective students and their families an immediate feel for the pulse of campus when they visit.

"The Visitor Center is the first office guests from the South Limestone Garage will encounter as they enter under the large, blue UK logo on the outside of the Gatton Student Center," Visitor Center Director Taylor Blair said. "Guests are also greeted — before they set foot in the building — by an excerpt from Frank X Walker's poem 'Seedtime in the Commonwealth.'” The poem was written in celebration of UK's sesquicentennial.

Offering weekday information sessions and campus tours, the Visitor Center can now provide that service in a larger, technology-rich space. The center includes a presentation room with the largest Christie tile wall in Kentucky. The Christie tiles allow for dynamic, multi-touch presentations for visitors and correspond to the other high-tech digital communication offerings of the Gatton Student Center. Visitor Center staff members also now have a private conference room to allow admission counselors a space for more personal, tailored meetings with prospective students.

This is not the first time UK's Visitor Center has been in the Student Center. Many alumni may remember when it was located outside the UK Bookstore in the old Student Center prior to moving to the renovated Main Building in 2004.

The UK Visitor Center is open each weekday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on select Saturdays. Visitors to campus may register for a visit at www.uky.edu/visitorcenter.
