The University Presents ‘Leadership Through Transformation’ Events

Tara Swart is a neuroscientist, leadership coach, award-winning author and psychiatrist who works with leaders all over the world.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 6, 2019) — While campus visibly undergoes transformation through renovation and construction, the "Leadership Through Transformation" events share insights into — less visible but equally important — opportunities for transformation on the inside.

Open to the entire university community, faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend any or all three "Leadership Through Transformation” events. All take place at the Gatton Student Center and the two addresses will be livestreamed using Zoom. Registration is available here.

Delivering an address titled “Digital Transformation” from 8:30-9:45 a.m. Friday, March 29, Ann Carver, UK alumna and chief information officer of Coca-Cola North America, will share an in-depth story involving technology, innovations and disruptions within a large multicultural, multilingual, multifaceted organization.

Tara Swart, a top-tier speaker and leadership coach who has doctorate in neuroscience and a career as a psychiatrist, offers two events on April 8. Translating research on mental resilience for individuals seeking greater impact and connection, Swart presents “Neuroscience for Leadership” in the morning from 8:30-9:45 a.m. and facilitates a workshop called “Mindfulness and Neuroscience” in the afternoon from 2-4 p.m.

"We’re bringing speakers to campus to inspire reflection about what it means to lead,” said Kim Wilson, vice president and chief human resources officer. “Both speak to the processes involved in strengthening individual influence and belonging in our widespread and diverse university community.”

UK Human Resources, working alongside an advisory group, developed this annual event series, now in its fourth year. Speakers are sponsored by the Office of the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration, the Office of the Provost and the UK Alumni Association.

"The Provost’s Office is pleased to be a co-sponsor and supporter of these events,” said G.T. Lineberry, associate provost for faculty advancement. “We encourage wide participation from not only UK faculty, staff and students, but also from our local alumni in Lexington and nearby communities.”
