Thank You to Employees Who Keep Our Campus Safe

This week, as many of our students return from spring break, we enter the homestretch of the academic year. I’d like to thank all of the faculty and staff across our campus who have supported our students with dedication and compassion, and who continue to help them set their sights on the Commencement stage in May.

After all, we all play a role in student success. And with spring on the horizon, I know our community is particularly grateful for the members of the UK family who keep campus traversable and safe during the winter season.

The Physical Plant Division (PPD) employees in Facilities Management work tirelessly throughout the year; however, their efforts are especially important during periods of inclement weather. When it snows or when the temperature falls below freezing, they arrive early on campus to clear sidewalks and roads, all in the interest of maintaining the safety.

We are immensely grateful for their efforts on behalf of our students, faculty, staff, patients, visitors, and fans. Their work, of course, is not easy, but they have operated with efficiency and effectiveness during periods of winter weather, ultimately allowing us to remain operational and to continue fulfilling our mission.

Please join me in thanking Vice President for Facilities Management Mary Vosevich and our PPD employees for the hard work they do year-round.

As we continue through the final weeks of the academic year, I hope we will remember that we all play a distinct, but critical, role in the success of our students.

And when we think about our role as the University FOR Kentucky, that’s both a great responsibility and an incredible privilege.

Thank you for everything you do. Have a great week.
