Kentucky Energy Club Sponsors Talk on Renewable Energy for Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 5, 2011) — The Kentucky Energy Club is sponsoring a seminar on "Renewable Energy:  Fact or Fiction for Kentucky" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Davis Marksbury Building on Rose Street on the University of Kentucky campus.

The seminar will be led by Kate Shanks, assistant director for the Division of Renewable Energy in the Kentucky Department for Energy Development and Independence.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in natural resource conservation and management and a Master of Public Administration from UK.

Other positions Shanks has held include executive staff adviser for the Energy and Environment Cabinet where she dealt with administrative regulations;  EEC's environmental education coordinator; chairperson for Bluegrass PRIDE, a Central Kentucky environmental organization; and an employee of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Division of Parks and Recreation in its natural areas program.
