LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 17, 2020) — The University of Kentucky’s Frazee Hall is currently under renovation. The Frazee Hall project will provide 22,081 square feet of space — including a new connector. The $15 million modernization will revitalize the facility with a total renovation of the existing building, enhancements to the building envelope, a new elevator, two new stair towers and the construction of a connector to the Gatton Student Center.

The connector will provide ADA accessibility via vertical circulation and address floor elevations between buildings. The interior space will be configured to facilitate today’s educational needs while remaining flexible to allow future change. Upgrades to the existing mechanical, electrical and other building systems are included in the scope of work.

Upon completion in July 2022, the building will be occupied by the following:

  • Center for Support and Intervention;
  • Fraternity and Sorority Life;
  • Family Programs and K Week;
  • Office of Student Conduct;
  • Residence Life;
  • Dean of Students; and
  • Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice (formerly known as Bias Incident Support Services).

Currently located in Frazee Hall are the Counseling Center, Office of Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice, the Wellness Center and the Violence Intervention and Prevention Center — which will be moved to temporary locations.

Fencing will be placed around Frazee at the start of January, and all occupants will be out of Frazee Hall by Dec. 18.

Below are the following relocations of the existing departments in Frazee Hall.

  • UK Counseling Center is moving to Mandrell Hall, Room 104.
  • Office of Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice is moving to Mandrell Hall, Rooms 127 and 129.
  • The VIP Center is moving to Bosworth Hall.
  • Student Wellness and the Collegiate Recovery Community is moving to the Boone Center.

Signs on the fencing will direct students to the temporary locations. The signs will include maps and contact information for each program, as well as a QR code to access the UK interactive map.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
