LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 6, 2021) — In Lexington for the holidays? Here are some ways you can get festive this season!
- Southern Lights: A four-mile journey through a dreamland of light displays at the Kentucky Horse Park! Following the driving tour there are also holiday craft merchants, the KHP gift shop, a petting zoo and much more!
- A Kentucky Christmas at Ashland: The home of Henry Clay is decked out in holiday décor. Take a candlelight tour of the mansion and grounds to see for yourself!
- Ice skating at Triangle Park: The lawn of Triangle Park is transformed into a winter wonderland. Join the fun and go ice skating in the heart of downtown.
- Reindeer Ramble: The annual 5K and 10K scholarships for kids attending YMCA summer camps. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite holiday sweater, Santa suit, or “holiday festive” attire and embrace the spirit of the holiday.
- Sing along with UK Opera at Alltech’s "Celebration of Song": This fast-growing holiday tradition features performances of favorite carols by award-winning vocalists from University of Kentucky Opera Theatre and special guest artists. The free concert begins 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park.
- "Nutcracker" Dances into Town: Join in a holiday tradition celebrated by people around the world as the Bluegrass Youth Ballet presents “The Nutcracker in One Act” at UK’s Singletary Center.
- Visit an upcoming Holiday Market: Visit one of Lexington’s many locally organized Holiday Markets this season. Whether you’re into art or baked goods, hand-beading or leather, there’s a market to suit everyone’s gifting needs and budgets.
- Christmas at Mustard Seed Hill: Between a stunning display of Christmas light attractions, an Artisan Market with local retail and vendors and a Holiday Cafe with food and refreshments, you won’t want to miss this!
- Shaker Village Candlelight Tour: Trace the evolution of Christmas celebrations in Shaker communities like Pleasant Hill and compare them to the contemporary interpretations of the holiday season in this candlelight tour.
