LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 28, 2026) — As part of a regularly scheduled training, the University of Kentucky Police Department will hold a tactical training exercise Tuesday, July 28, and Thursday, July 30, at 620 S. Broadway.

There is no risk to the public, and members of the campus community can expect to see an increased law enforcement presence in the area from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. July 28 and July 30.

The purpose of this exercise is to enhance operational readiness in the event of active aggressor incidents. This type of training is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to ensure emergency preparedness and public safety.

UK Police regularly hold training that strengthens law enforcement response efforts.

This training is not open to media or the public.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and healthcare. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $1.02 billion research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
