Register for community Active Aggressor Response Training

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 15, 2026) — The University of Kentucky Police Department (UKPD) invites students, faculty, staff and community members to participate in an upcoming Active Aggressor Response Training designed to help individuals prepare for and respond to critical incidents. UKPD regularly provides this training as part of its commitment to maintaining a safe and informed campus community.
The training will provide practical guidance on recognizing threats, understanding common stress responses and making informed decisions during an active aggressor event. Participants will learn the nationally recognized “Run, Hide, Fight” response strategy and better understand how law enforcement responds during these emergencies.
“While we hope no one ever encounters this type of situation, being prepared can help save lives,” said UKPD Chief Joe Monroe. “This training gives members of our campus and community the knowledge and confidence to make critical decisions during a crisis.”
The session is open to all members of the University of Kentucky community, including students, faculty, staff and interested community members. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from UKPD personnel, learn about available campus safety resources and ask questions about emergency preparedness. UKPD offers active aggressor training to support its larger mission of promoting safety awareness and preparedness across campus.
