Gatton Ph.D. Grad Wins Prestigious Award
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 23, 2012) – University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and Economics doctoral graduate Dinesh Mirchandani recently received the Douglas E. Durand Award for Research Excellence during the 41st annual Honors Program presented by the University of Missouri-St. Louis' (UMSL) College of Business Administration.
“I feel honored to receive this prestigious award,” said Mirchandani, who is an associate professor of information systems at UMSL. “What I learn through my research becomes an integral part of my teaching. My students’ awareness of the latest developments in the field better prepares them for the workplace.”
Al Lederer, professor of MIS in the Gatton College's Department of Management, served as Mirchandani's dissertation adviser at UK.
Mirchandani is regarded as an expert on information systems planning, enterprise systems and e-government. He has published numerous journal articles and book chapters.
Mirchandani joined the faculty at UMSL in 2002. Prior to that, he served as an assistant professor of management at Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids, Mich.
The Douglas E. Durand Award for Research Excellence was endowed by the former dean and his wife Tauna in 2001 to recognize significant contributions to research and scholarship by tenure-track faculty in the College of Business Administration at UMSL.
