College of Pharmacy Embarks on Statewide Tour
LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 3, 2011) – The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy wants to hear from their alumni and friends. And you won’t have to travel too far to make sure your voice is heard.
Dean Tim Tracy and members of the UK College of Pharmacy family are embarking on the Partners in Pharmacy Tour, an 11-city tour across the state in March and April.
"Too often people think that this college can only be found along South Limestone in Lexington, Kentucky,” said Tracy. “We know that the heart and soul of the College of Pharmacy is found in local pharmacies and hospitals in communities across the Commonwealth. This tour will provide us an opportunity to hear from our alumni, friends and partners to find out how we can better serve their needs and work together to create a healthier Kentucky.”
In each tour location, which starts in Paducah on March 8, the college will host a reception for alumni and friends. Dean Tracy also will be conducting a complimentary Continuing Education course - The Role of the Pharmacist in Personalized Medicine – at every stop on the tour. To register for the CE course, log on to http://www.cecentral.com/live/.
Each visit will begin with a reception at 6:15 p.m. (local time), with the CE course starting at about 7:15 p.m. If people would like to come to the reception only and do not wish to stay for the CE course, the college is asking those who are planning to attend the reception to RSVP to Amber Bowling at (859) 218-1305, amber.bowling@uky.edu.
The UK College of Pharmacy, which is the 5th ranked pharmacy school in the nation, hopes the tour will spark new engagement opportunities and create new partnerships with alumni and friends across the state.
"It is part of our responsibility as a land-grant institution to reach out and serve communities across the state,” Tracy said. “To fulfill that mission in an optimal way, we need to hear directly from our alumni and friends and see first-hand what their needs are. We can’t wait to do just that.”
