LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 14, 2020) — University of Kentucky Information Technology Services (ITS) is announcing the next phase in the Identity Management (IdM) Account Deprovisioning process. Starting Oct. 26, 2020, ITS will begin a new process that will automatically remove access and accounts for university systems and products for faculty and staff as they depart from UK.
This process is very important to enhance the cybersecurity of systems and data at the University of Kentucky. At this time, accounts being compromised due to inactivity is one of the most common threats to students, faculty and staff. The best way to combat this threat is to begin removing accounts that are no longer active with the university.
Below are highlights of this process:
- Staff who depart from the university will be notified via email upon separation date that their account will be deprovisioned after seven days.
- Faculty who depart from the university will be notified via email 90 days after their last taught course that their account will be deprovisioned after seven days.
- Any faculty or staff member who is an active student, alum, retiree, emeritus faculty or has a future status will not be deprovisioned at this time.
- Volunteer faculty who are designated as an employee or external in the SAP/IdM system will not be deprovisioned in this process and will retain access to appropriate university resources.
- At this time, retirees will keep their current access. However, it is important to be familiar with the guidelines on retirees’ email and software access outlined in Email Access for University of Kentucky Retirees.
- Emeritus faculty will retain the access outlined in Which software is available to emeritus faculty?

In conjunction with this process, ITS has launched the new myDocs self-service document portal at mydocs.uky.edu. This portal allows for former students, faculty and staff to obtain important documents (e.g., student 1098-T, unofficial transcripts, W-2s, pay stubs) after departing from the university.
