Take a (spring) break to write with the Office for Faculty Advancement

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 19, 2025) – The Office for Faculty Advancement invites University of Kentucky faculty to spend part of their 2026 Spring Break in an inspiring and productive way. On March 19, 2026, the office will host “Take A (Spring) Break to Write” Day — a relaxed, motivating environment designed to help faculty make meaningful progress on their writing goals.
Whether they are putting finishing touches on a journal article and looking for the right publication outlet, developing a book idea, or strengthening the narrative for an upcoming promotion/tenure dossier, the day is designed to support UK faculty.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Attend targeted workshops on scholarly writing and publishing.
- Connect with potential co-authors and build a writing community.
- Spend dedicated time brainstorming, drafting, or revising their next manuscript.
This event is ideal for any faculty member with a specific writing goal and an interest in gaining new strategies and support from a collaborative community. Space is limited, so register in advance. Sign up here.
As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
