WUKY Takes Home Six Awards in Kentucky AP Broadcasters Competition
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 18, 2018) — The University of Kentucky's NPR station, 91.3 WUKY, took home six honors in the 2017 Kentucky Associated Press Broadcasters Contest. The award ceremony honoring Kentucky broadcast news took place April 14 in Louisville.
WUKY anchor/reporter Karyn Czar won first place in the Best Short Light News Feature category for her coverage of the University of Kentucky’s first Honor Flight to Washington, D.C, and a second-place award for Best Radio Reporter.
WUKY equine reporter Samantha Lederman won first place in Best Sports Feature for “Meet the Horse and Rider Shaking Up Dressage.”
WUKY reporter Josh James won first place in Best Enterprise Reporting for “Reopening the Constitution: Panacea or Pandora’s Box?”
The WUKY News Staff took top honors in Best Continuing Coverage for “Lexington’s Confederate Statue Controversy” and for Best Short Newscast.
“This is a testament to the hard work, and dedication of our talented news staff,” said WUKY News Director Alan Lytle. “I’m especially gratified that our work continues to be honored by our broadcasting peers.”
