Kernel Selects New Editor-In-Chief

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 28, 2012) — Journalism sophomore Becca Clemons has been named the Kentucky Kernel's editor-in-chief for the 2012-2013 school year. Clemons is a current managing editor for the Kernel and was the only candidate for the position.

Clemons said that, in her new role as chief, she wants to reach out to students.

“We need to put more focus on long-term, investigative pieces about issues that matter to students," Clemons said in a Kernel story published March 22. "And to find out what matters, I want to get the conversation going with everyone on campus.”

Interviews for next year’s Kernel staff will be announced in the coming weeks. Clemons encourages anyone interested in the Kernel to look for postings about positions or to contact her at bclemons@kykernel.com.

“The Kernel is a huge part of campus and I am really excited to be leading it,” she said. “We are the only media outlet that reports in-depth on all aspects of campus and reports on all the issues that matter to students on campus and beyond.”
