Spooky Titles Part of Next Late Night Film Series

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 29, 2013) – The Late Night Film Series is screening “Warm Bodies” at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, followed by “Como Agua Para Chocolate” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, as the final film of this semester’s International Film Series, which is presented in part by the Department of Hispanic Studies. Next will be the screening of “Evil Dead” at 10 p.m. Thursday. Lastly, on Friday, Nov.1, “Let the Right One In” will play at 7 p.m. and “Let Me In” at 10 p.m. All films are shown in the Worsham Theater and are free and open to the public.

In the world of “Warm Bodies,” where zombies are the norm, the zombie R encounters human Julie as he is feeding on a group of scavengers. Feeling a strange connection with her, R enters into a strange relationship that seems to spur the return of his humanity. (98 min. Rated PG-13).

Mexico’s traditionally strict marriage customs play a prominent role in “Como Agua Para Chocolate,”  as Tita and her mother are at odds over Tita’s desire to marry her love, Pedro. Fighting against years of tradition and the will of their elders, Tita and Pedro attempt to prove that love can change everything. (105 min. Rated R).

In “Evil Dead,” things go great when a group of friends travel to a remote cabin in the woods…at first. When a member of the group discovers a Book of the Dead in the basement, he summons an army of demons bent on destroying every last person. (91 min. Rated R).

Seeking a way of defeating his bully, “Let the Right One In” tells of a young Swedish boy who befriends a mysterious girl who gives him the strength to fight back. Realizing that she is a vampire, he must make a decision as to how much love can forgive. (115 min. Rated R).

In “Let Me In,” a bullied boy leads a lonely life until he befriends a neighbor girl who only appears at night. Her serial killer father, who is being investigated for a string of killings, feeds the girl, actually a vampire. (116 min. Rated R).
