UK Alert

At approximately 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, UK police received a report of a robbery at Rose Street and Funkhouser Drive.

The victim is a male UK student. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 150 lbs., 20-30 years of age with short hair or possibly bald. The suspect was wearing jeans, but the victim could not identify a specific shirt color.

The suspect implied to the victim that he had a weapon.

The suspect headed north toward the Hilary J. Boone Center. The victim was not injured.

Please use caution on campus and contact UK Police at 859-257-1616 if you have information about this robbery or to report any suspicious activity.

UK Police offer the following safety precautions:

* If you notice anything suspicious, go to the nearest phone and call 911.

* Carry a cell phone or other personal safety device.

* Always be aware of your surroundings and of the activities of people around you.

* Do not travel alone after dark; always walk with a friend or with a group. 

* Request a FREE SAFECATS student safety escort, or coordinate after-hours on-demand bus service by calling the University’s One Number coordinated student safety services program at 257-SAFE(7233).

* Park only in well lit areas.

* Turn over any requested items (purse, wallet, etc).

* Make statements with authority -- BACK-OFF! STOP! NO-WAY! Never comply with being moved to another location, FIGHT BACK!
