Economics and Philosophy Bring Speaker to Campus

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 6, 2011) — The Department of Philosophy in the University of Kentucky's College of Arts & Sciences is teaming up with the Department of Economics in UK's Gatton College of Business and Economics to bring a political theorist to campus as a guest speaker on Thursday, Dec. 8. 

The program, being held in conjunction with the Gatton College's BB&T Program, will feature a presentation titled, "Capitalism:  What Is It?  Why Have It?"  Kevin Vallier, a post-doctoral research associate in Brown University's Political Theory Project, will address questions such as, 'Are there philosophical underpinnings of economics?' 

The talk, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday in Room 110 of the White Hall Classroom Building.  For persons traveling to campus, parking is available in UK Parking Structure # 5, located on South Limestone near the corner of Euclid Avenue.
