Wednesday, April 23: Tour de Downtown Art
Meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Bowman Wildcat statue on north campus, across from Historic Memorial Coliseum, to explore the city’s art scene on two wheels. Take a guided ride downtown with Brian Connors Manke as he shares insight on artwork along the way. The tour will end at West Sixth Brewery, where riders can socialize with other Bike Week participants. A WiIdcat Wheels employee will host the ride back to campus for students or others who choose to return directly to campus.
Friday, April 25: Campus Bike Tour and Wildcat Wheels Bike Shop Sneak Peak
Meet at 1 p.m. at the Bowman statue near the Gatton Student Center, then take a bike tour of campus. One of the first stops will be at Sports Center Garage, home of the new Wildcat Wheels Bicycle Shop. Experience a full campus tour and a chance to explore the new, soon to be fully operational, bike shop. The ride will be approximately five miles.
Afterwards, join the Lexington Critical Mass bike ride starting at 6 p.m. The ride begins at Woodland Park, just off campus. Join community members for a collective celebration of the bicycle, while raising awareness about complete street design and safety issues that affect road users.
For seasoned cyclists or people just getting started at cycling, UK Bike Week is the perfect time to get active, explore the city and campus, and celebrate biking as a fun, sustainable mode of transportation. For more information about Bike Week, contact UK Transportation Services.
As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds.
