Intondi Debates Nuclear Weapons, Race and Justice in Trump Era

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 24, 2017) When Vincent Intondi visits the University of Kentucky campus next week, he will discuss issues that many Americans are thinking about, if not debating. The topic of his talk is “Nuclear Weapons, Race and Justice in the Trump Era.”

A guest of the UK Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce, Intondi will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at the UK Athletics Auditorium in the William T. Young Library. The event is free and open to the public.

Intondi, an associate professor of history and the director of Montgomery College’s Institute for Race, Justice and Community Engagement, is the author of “African Americans Against the Bomb: Nuclear Weapons, Colonialism and the Black Freedom Movement.

In 2016, Intondi worked with the Union of Concerned Scientists to explore efforts to expand the nuclear disarmament movement to include more diverse voices, specifically from the African-American community. He was named to the board of directors of Peace Action New York State.

In 2009, Intondi was named the director of research for American University’s Nuclear Studies Institute in Washington, D.C.
