Low-Cost Breast, Cervical Cancer Tests Available

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 6, 2010) — The Markey Cancer Center is joining with the health department and community groups to help make cancer screenings available to more women. 

 

Low-cost screenings for breast and cervical cancer will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department Public Health Clinic North at 805A Newtown Circle in Lexington. 

 

Same-day mammograms and PAP tests will be available by appointment only. The event is intended primarily for women 40 and older who are uninsured or underinsured. Services will be provided on a sliding fee schedule, based on income.  

 

This event is sponsored by the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department, the Mayor’s Task Force on Breast Cancer, the Brenda D. Cowan Coalition's "Sister to Sister" Program and the Markey Cancer Center.
