UK Outreach Center to Celebrate Major Milestone for Campus Home

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 1, 2012)The University of Kentucky Outreach Center for Science and Health Opportunities is celebrating the 100-year birthday of their home on campus next Friday, June 8, with an open house and reception.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first floor of Medical Annex #5, a small brick building located just off University Drive behind the medical complex and home to the Outreach Center since 1993. The reception is open to past, present, and future UK students, faculty and staff.

In addition to celebrating with food and refreshments, all divisions of the Outreach Center will showcase the many educational programs they provide for Kentucky youths interested in the fields of health and science. Through the work of Dr. Donald Frazier, who serves as its director, the Outreach Center has helped educate thousands of Kentucky kids about the world of science and has facilitated the progress of young people toward health-related careers including biomedical research.

"We thought hosting an open house was a great way to celebrate two things," Frazier said. "Not only are we celebrating the century milestone for our home here on campus, we're also taking the opportunity to show everyone at UK all the good works we do here at the Outreach Center."
