UK Is a University of Firsts
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 18, 2009) -- Learn why this is a university of firsts during UK's annual State of the University Address at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, on the Patterson Office Tower Plaza.
[IMAGE2]Free food will be served starting at 11 a.m., many student organizations will have tables set up providing information about their missions and activities, the UK Wildcat mascot will work the crowd, and UK President Lee T. Todd Jr. and Student Government President Ryan Smith will deliver the State of the University Address beginning at 11:30. NBC sports broadcaster and UK alumnus Tom Hammond will serve as emcee.
This event offers our campus community the opportunity to reflect on the strides we have made toward becoming a Top 20 public university despite economic difficulties, along with a discussion of goals for our future. It is an excellent time to acknowledge the tremendous effort our outstanding students, faculty and staff make every day for the University of Kentucky.
A new feature this year -- the event can be viewed via live streaming on UKNow at www.uky.edu/uknow, your source for University news. Also, in case of rain, the alternate location for lunch will be the covered area outside the White Hall Classroom Building, and the State of University Address can be viewed on UKNow.
