Cats for a Cause National Service Week is Underway

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 9, 2018) University of Kentucky Alumni Association clubs have long been a community where members gather to celebrate the Wildcats athletic achievements at game watch parties. And, the clubs serve as a reason for alumni to get together for reunions and other social engagements.

Club members also show their Wildcat spirit on a regular basis by giving back to their local communities. This fall, they are showing that spirit again through the Cats for a Cause National Service Week program. Started in 2008, this annual event has grown to include close to 500 volunteers annually.

This year, more than 20 UK Alumni Clubs plan to participate in a variety of community-oriented activities such as canned food and clothing drives, collecting items to send to local soldiers serving overseas, and preparing and serving meals to the needy.

However, volunteers do not have to be UK Alumni Association members, or members of a specific club. All alumni and friends are encouraged to participate in Cats for a Cause National Service Week.

Individuals who are not in a club area or who cannot participate in their club’s activities can log their individual hours at Once service hours are entered, they are eligible to a Cats for a Cause T-shirt and other UK alumni giveaways.
